Intended Use:
The One Touch Sure Step System is intended for use outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use). It should be used only for testing purposes
and only with fresh whole blood samples. It should not be used for the diagnosis of diabetes.
- When you apply a drop of blood to the pink test square on the test strip, glucose in the blood reacts with chemicals in the test strip to create a blue color. This blue color shows up
on the confirmation dot on the opposite side of the test strip. If you applied enough blood, the entire dot turns blue.
- The One Touch Sure Step Glucose Meter reads the intensity of the blue color and determines
the glucose level in the blood. The result is displayed on the meter as a plasma glucose value. The system’s “plasma calibration” converts the glucose value for the whole
blood from your fingerstick to a value equivalent to the glucose found in the plasma portion of the blood. This allows you to compare meter results with laboratory results, which typically
report the amount of glucose in blood plasma.
I M P O R TA N T : Improper storage and handling may lead to inaccurate results.
- Contact with air and moisture may cause inaccurate results.
- Store test strips in their original bottle only. Do not transfer test strips to another bottle.
- After removing a test strip from the bottle, replace the bottle cap tightly.
- Use each test strip immediately after taking it out of the bottle.
- Store the test strip bottle in a cool, dry place and not above 86°F (30°C).
- Keep test strips away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
- Do not expose the test strips to bleach fumes or hydrogen peroxide.
- Do not use test strips that have passed the expiration date on the bottle.
- Test strips can be used for 4 months after first opening the bottle. When you first open the test strip bottle, write the “discard date” on the bottle. The “discard date”
is the date 4 months after the date you first open the bottle. Throw out any unused test strips after the discard date.
- Do not bend, cut, or alter a test strip in any way.
